Bedrock City Con Hosts its 3rd Annual Convention
Written by Seth Adrian Romo
With more than 20 comic book artists and creators as well as an extensive range of vendors, Bedrock City Con set a new milestone for comic book conventions in Houston, Texas.
The city of Houston is no stranger to conventions, but often pop culture and celebrity attendees can make options for comic book fans feel constrained. Fortunately, the team at Bedrock City Comics has taken on the challenge and crafted an event that ensures diverse creators to fit every comic book interest in a friendly environment that fosters connecting creators with readers and fans.
Bedrock City Comics was founded by Richard Evans and has grown from one store to six in the greater Houston area. As a household name, their stores ensure Bedrock City Comics has a local location regardless of where you are in the city of sprawl.
“We’re already planning for year four,” said Evans. “I’m super happy with how Bedrock City Con has shaped and part of the reason it’s so good is because of the team.”
What makes the show run so smoothly is the impressive team. In addition to seeing a comic book creator you’re familiar with, there is always a staff member donning a purple shirt willing to help out and ensure creators and fans are having a great time.
One of the organizers, Dylan Dousebout, was instrumental in coordinating talented creators for the Artist Alley at the 2025 Bedrock City Con.
“We always start with what our fans want in terms of bringing comic book creators,” said Dousebout. “While we aren’t the scale of other shows, the response has been positive when creators and readers hear about a show that is purely focused on comics.”
Creators ranged from small press writers to artists working with major publishers such as DC Comics and Marvel. Several of the creators who attended included: Gabriel Picolo, Isaac Goodhart, K Lynn, Smith, Kevin Wada, Nick Robles, Soo Lee, Sozomaika, and many others.
Nick Robles, the artist on the critically acclaimed Absolute Flash, is no stranger to Bedrock City Comic events.
“I’ve made tons of friends with the Bedrock City Comics staff and I know it sounds corny, but it’s a blessing to form my first local comic shop relationship. Where I used to live the closest comic shop was an hour plus away. So getting to have that link has been beneficial and uplifting,” said Robles.
While the 2025 Bedrock City Con may have come and gone, if the talent from this year is any indicator–2026 is sure to make comic book fans of Houston and beyond set a reminder on their calendars.
