NYCC 2026 is on its way. Will you be there?

The biggest con on the East Coast returns to Javits Center for its 20th anniversary from Oct. 8-11. New York Comic Con combines comics, book publication, gaming and fandoms across genres, annually hosting upwards of 250,000 attendees. This is at once an expansive yet surprisingly straightforward con to get around, located nearby the heart of major American publishing companies, and also scheduled on the tail end of American Library Association’s Banned Books Week [Oct. 4-10].

A part of this year’s two-decade milestone celebration pulls in another kind of iconic entertainment: Coney Island, the original electric lights entertainment park founded in the 1920s  located in Brooklyn. Daily entertainment on the Community Stage includes a Coney Island variety show, with a kick-off show on Thursday, daytime entertainment on Friday and Saturday, and a final show Sunday, with further details to be announced.

This year NYCC’s guest of honor is actor Nicolas Cage, who boasts a long resume of work, filled with notable pop culture icons such as Spider-Noir, National Treasure, Ghost Rider, Moonstruck.

Attendees have a growing guest list to choose from for signings and panels that include some of the most recognizable names in comics, film and literary favorites like Frank Miller, Scott Snyder, James Tynion IV, BD Wong, Jim Lee, Jamie Campbell Bower, Christopher Rice, Hayden Christensen, Erica Henderson, Stephanie Phillips, Scott Snyder, J.R. Ward, Jive Poetic of Brooklyn Poetry Slam, Travis Baldree, Kyle MacLahlan, Lena Headey, Werther Dell’Edera and much more.

Navigating NYCC is, as is the case for every convention, easier for locals—Spider Man definitely has the visiting foot traffic and metro crowd beat (attendees should take the 7 train).

But for a regular visitor, there are a few things to be mindful of: Get tickets early, pack for potential weather (a small rain poncho or mini umbrella will do the trick), organize a transport or walking route, stow snacks, know when and where to stop and plan out attendance day/s in advance.

Tickets and badges: Attendees should secure tickets as early as possible. Solo tickets for Saturday, as with almost any con, are going to be a prime demand day and are already sold out.

If the bigger marquee panels and appearances aren’t a top draw, securing a spot for Thursday, Friday or Sunday will still provide plenty of opportunity for an exciting con. Skip morning lines and have a badge mailed, or be prepared to assemble and wait in the funnel-in line for badge pickup.

The badge pickup crawls around the outside of the Javits Center building, starting on the south side winding up onto a slim sidewalk space. Check the weather in advance and prepare accordingly. Sun, rain, wind - as an attendee, keep costume, hair or clothing in mind versus the elements. There’s no shame in prioritizing staying dry, especially when there’s a day on the con floor at stake. 

The Javits Center’s glass-and-metal ‘crystal palace’ houses the badge pickup and entry point into primary show floorspaces on level three. This is where attendees will find film and show activations, product shopping (clothes, figurines, gaming and a maker-style market areas), with eBay Live, major publishers and retailers prioritized in the north hall space.

The midlevel lobby on level two is the primary access point below the show floor, with Artist’s Alley and book fulfillment below in the subfloor areas. Panel rooms are located in the subfloor level one area as well, with additional panel spaces higher above in level four.

NYCC hosts the annual Crown Championships cosplay contest, a talent show, a scavenger hunt, workshops for craft and technical learning, panels for fans, professional industry panels, a dedicated LGBTQIA+ Pride Lounge, and more with further information to be announced

This is definitely a shopper’s con for books crowd, with representation, signings and wide tables full of tomes from the major publishers like Penguin Random House, Scholastic, Simon & Schuster, plus plenty of options from up-and-coming smaller press imprints.
