It’s hard to encapsulate greatness into words. When it comes to Bytchcraft, I am faced with that very problem. This series follows three sisters wnamed of the craft who are tested when a display of magick goes terribly wrong creating a rapture headed to cleanse the Earth of all wytchkind.
Late writer Aaron Reese has conjured up a world of wonder that takes your breath away with each page. As we are introduced to the main trio, you may find that each one resembles a small part of yourself: the responsible side, the compassionate side, and the fierce protector. We follow these wytches through an intensely captivating plotline where the state of the world is at hand. Reese utilizes an all encompassing palette of global practices from the power of shapes to mudras, familiars, and more! With stakes as high as the heavens, Reese allows his characters to face the consequences of hesitation and lackadaisicalness.
While practicing their craft, three sisters of the coven, Adriyel, Michele, and Em, cause a disruption in time and space. They have to right their wrongs, and along the way are faced with bigger entities than they could have ever imagined. Though this is a new hero’s journey for them, Eve Morningstar and her devoted followers have been chasing the same mission for eons, and this time she is determined to seal the deal. When opportunity and preparedness meet, luck finds itself in the hands of the sisters. But will they fix their mistake in enough time to save the world from damnation?
The stunning one-of-a-kind art by Lema Carrill provides the story with bold and distinct characterization and scene setting. His vintage art style and intricate line work makes you cherish each page as if it was a gifted trinket. The queerness, experimental fashion, and fluid androgyny, combined with Bex Glending’s striking, eccentric colors, sets the stage for powerful storytelling through Morgan Martinez’ lettering.
This series is perfectly designed to connect with readers who have escaped the depths of shame and guilt and rediscovered their sense of self-love.
