NYCC Artist Alley Interviews

2026 New York Comic Con brought tons of creators to Artist Alley and the Pages and Panels team took a moment to connect with a few comic book creators making their mark in the world of comics.

Sun Bros Studios at 2026 NYCC

Sun Bros Studios: Wesley and Brad Sun. - Sun Bros Studios is made up of brothers Brad and Wesley Sun. Publishing comics for over ten years, they have recently come out with Chaplain. A surreal horror comic set in a hospital, following an aging Chaplain training an intern, steeped in Filipino folklore and culture. The story comes from both of the brothers' very real experiences working in healthcare during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“Readers will get a better idea of how the hospital works, the work of Chaplain in a hospital, but on a larger level this is a comic that will hopefully bring in first time readers. There is a lot of crossover, academics and anyone who has a real interest in medicine even if comics aren't something you’ve read before.”

Greg Burnham at 2026 NYCC

Greg Burnham - Greg began with self publishing Tuskegee Heirs #1 back in 2016. Now a whole universe, this is a sci-fi action packed comic based on the real Tuskegee Airman, the first Black members of the US Airforce. Set at the end of the 21st century, during a war against an AI, five of the world's most talented pilots are Earth's last hope at saving civilization.

“I want people to look into the history of the Tuskegee airman, but also let this be a catalyst for imagination. Black stories are so often as you know about us being marginalized but we can also be the heroes of amazing stories.”

LifeLine at 2026 NYCC

LifeLine: Phil Falco and Kat Calamia - Ringo award winning publisher Lifeline Comics, known for Slice of Life, Transphoria and The Beast and Snow. LifeLines catalogue is full of incredible creators with multiple anthologies published this year alone. Transphoria is a comic that centers trans joy above all else.

From Phil Falco ( ½ of lifeline) “Trans folks need positive representation, not just coming out stories, but comedy, and sci-fi. Transphoria is about all the different genres that trans joy can be shown in. Joy is the real thing we want readers to take away, Lifeline has always been built around stories of queer joy, celebrating people and embracing authenticity.”

Corinne Halbert at 2026 NYCC

Corinne Halbert - Most known for Acid Nun, Corinne’s work is bright, intense and psychedelic in both narrative and visuals. As the name suggests, readers are taken through a Nun’s acid trip, but while the idea feels lighthearted, Corinnes’s work never shys from deep character insight. Acid nun refuses to hold back as she grapples with the deep wounds of her past.

“No one is alone in their struggles, Acid Nun readers will hopefully feel that while also having a damn good time. A lot of people struggle with mental health and with life in general right now. It's so hard to cut it now, but your friends are there for you and if you believe in yourself you can do whatever it is you want in this world.”

Alysia Anderson at 2026 NYCC

Time Crunch Comics: Alysia Anderson - Cosmyx, The Time Witch is a self published comic from creator Alysia Anderson. Cosmyx is her first book, fantastical, magical and action packed, Anderson’s shared she knows her journey and growth as a creative is mirrored through each page. Cosmyx, The Time Witch follows Dorothy, a young Black girl, as she stumbles into magic powers all while trying to navigate the already complex world of high school.

“Cosmyx, the Time Witch has both the dark and the light, really its Batman meets Sailor Moon. All the action packed moments of her kicking down doors, beating up bad guys, but she's a young teenager, so we get the softness and the cuteness that we sometimes lose in stories about women and especially Black women.”

Xin at 2026 NYCC

Xin (XINILLUS) - Originally published on Tapas, Xin’s recently self-published comic Seven Tails: Kingdom of Mermaids is a full color Manga that came from the artists' incredibly popular MerMay art back in 2019. Xin’s work brings to life 7 of these characters, combining their stories together in an incredibly designed hardcover book.

“I hope readers are inspired to get out of their bubble and explore the individual. Appreciating the difference in each other and are inspired to see past just the black and white.”
