Cosplay at Momocon 2026

This year at Momocon 2026, the cosplayers of Atlanta took to GWCC to showcase their hard work and favorite fandoms. As attendees perused through the halls of Buildings A and B, it was easy to become awe-struck and go into full fangirl mode with all of the innovative and cool cosplays at every corner.

Attendees not only got to see cosplays of every kind on the showroom floor, but had the opportunity to attend cosplay themed panels such as “Cosplay + Culture: Be Proud”, “Cosplay Photography: Both Sides of the Lens” and “Cosplay Guesting: Networking & Sponsorships’.” There was knowledge for cosplayers of all levels, budgets, sizes, and backgrounds, and offered new perspectives on what cosplay is and how accessible it is.

We wanted to know about the hearts behind the masks, so this year, we asked cosplayers why they cosplay, and the answers were beautiful.

Couldn’t make it to Momocon this year? Keep your eyes peeled for information on Momocon 2027 here https://www.momocon.com/

Five Nights at Freddy’s | @Flicker_the_Fox

“Cosplay is essentially just life to me, it’s the thing that makes me happy. I enjoy performing for people and performing for myself.  It’s what I feel  like I’m born to do.”

Master Roshi | Navy Montel | @navymontel

“One of the aspects of being a kid at heart is to experience everything, and when you get a chance to represent the characters that mean the most to you and still be able to have fun with it, why not cosplay?

Zelda |  Mara | @maraloo

“I cosplay because I love feeling transformed and being  able to act differently from myself. I love making other people smile and I make myself smile when I’m able to challenge myself.”

Brandy Cinderella | Aundra Montomery | @missprissy16

“Cosplay for me is being able to express myself, even as a black woman incorporating non-traditional stuff…so I have locs. I wore wigs when my locs were small, but I don't know how to put my hair in a wig so I’ve kinda given up on wigs and wore my natural hair, so that's one thing I really thoroughly enjoy. Also, being a black woman and seeing all the little black kids, and they come up to you saying ‘Oh my gosh, you're so pretty.’[…] just being able to make people happy. I love it.”

“I cosplay because I like to see other people share the same interests as me. I like to hang around with the same people who are just as weird as me.”

Kimi Bloom | @gyalryuu

I’m Kimi Bloom, I’m a 25 year old cosplayer from Chicago! I cosplay because I’ve always loved dressing up and being cute! I’ve always had characters I;ve always wanted to be when I grew up and wanted to dress up as them, but never got to”

Fifth Element | Xavier | @barrzay27

“Cosplay is life to me. . It’s giving and healing because everyone recognizes who I am.”

Brooks | Wesley Austin | @wessasaurusrex_2.0

“For love, for joy, for entertainment and just meeting like minded people who enjoy cosplaying the same characters as you do and to meet new friends. “
